| Did my first lab in school yesterday. Was kinda scared since I've never been around a prep room, but as we newbies went along it went OK. Kind of looking forward to next lab. Was nice to have one of the students in the biz stay for our lab with helping us folks who havent read the embalming for dummies book. I realized i'm not a seamstress....lol. Was nice to learn something new to build your confidence. |

Nope I didn't faint, but was wierd being around a corpse for a few minutes until we got going. Alot of students say I would enjoy it and I sure did. Didn't bother me at all making a cut. Only thing was the cavity fluid smell from the lst lab group. Still smell it in my head.
Oh no there isn't an embalming for dummies book but did see one called Embalming is not a sport. Did mention in my lab they have to have a reality show just like the one with competiting chefs, but with competiting embalmers. |

Congrats. Don't read Embalming is Not a Sport, a weird book to say the least and not very accurate at all. _________________ "Show me the manner in which a nation cares for its dead, and I will measure with mathematical exactness the tender sympathies of the people, their respect for the law of the land and their loyalties to high morals"- Sir William Gladstone |

I would think I would remember my first one; but that was many many cases ago. I only remember the ones that really stood out from the rest of them. I guess the cavity chemical is getting to me. I have to say all that PPE is out of control. I wear an apron and gloves unless I know it is a bad case with MRSA or such. Even HIV positive or AIDS cases are not a big deal. |

I'm more worried with the hepatitis cases. To me, MRSA is not as big of a deal as it's made out to be. |
