Did a 24 year old girl the other night with MRSA and HIV positive. She was gross. Major leakage from private areas, sores-most open, and purge. If there was ever a case that needed to be cremated, this would fall into that category.
Good news is she is firm, clear, and 1000% better and ready for burial which will help the family and why we do what we do.

That must have been rough..

Did you have to use stronger disinfectants and/or protective equipment for this case?

I double gloved, full gown with apron and a plastic apron on top of that. No mask since she did not have an airbourne virus and no googles-rarely wear anyways. Mixed 3 bottles of POWERTONE 36 index to 3 gallons. Half way through added 2 bottles of INTROFIANT (keeps working even when done) and 2 bottles of SPECIALIST for edema. She looked great. Put her in a full set of plastics.

Family very happy, well, as happy as one can be when their 25 year old daughter is dead. She had a blood transfusion at age 5 and picked up the HIV virus through that. Shame.

It was one of those 3 a.m. embalmings which are the ones I love the most. Just me and the corpses.

Hospital or home removal? What was the removal like?

Hospital about 75 miles away. Had a removal service pick her up.
